How do I prevent spots on clothes after being laundered?

I am having a hard time with laundry lately. I tend to do short loads of whites, bright colors, light colors and darks. And sometimes I even separate beige too. My daughter's clothes are being ruined with spots. I barely use much detergent, I don't even go up to the first line when I have small loads. Help! What am I doing wrong? Thank you!

paid 1200 plus 740 in repairs now the repair guys says atleast 250 motor and the gasket is going to go out for 700part cost not repair i have been on the phone with maytag and r only offering 20% off!it was also reacalled and the repair guy said even after replacing he has never known these to last over 10 yrs> this is obsurd what happened to washer lasting 40yrs and a company standing by ther brand u can see on line that this model# has givin lots of people the same issues what can i do?
