Yeah, according to phorensic research they are not a coincidence, but a pattern of someone's doing.

It's about context and patterns. Sometimes people come into treatment with "magical thinking" and ascribe meaning and "coincidences" to mystical things that just aren't based in reality. Sometimes people do this with paranoia and the connections they are making are erroneous. But sometimes there are things that are occuring that create a pattern that you need to pay attention to. Spouses taking on secondary partners is an example of this. Things start to line up and initially we dismiss them as our imagination but after awhile the pattern begins to form more clarity and then what has been observed as occuring is no longer coincidence.
