What do you think people smelled like in the 15th century?

I have been wondering about this since I saw an ad on TV for odour eating sanitary pads. I know I am a bit weird, but as we all wash regular and are particular about wearing deodorants and antiperspirants.. we change our clothes, in particular our underwear every day, and we are obsessed with toilet cleanliness.

Is that why we notice when someone else is stinking then, or does our body odour come out of our life style today. The way we eat and the thing we do...

I have no idea where I am going with this but suddenly it seems very important to me...
