mine is real, and recent. don't need to hide anything. They are all real, from when I was young to the present time. :)

I would have done, but not I work in a prison I am so glad I didnt... I really dont need to have any way of tracking me and my family down... I am even considering deleting facebook but I have nothing traceable on there.. I hope

If it had to be the real me, in a close up like your avatar, no I wouldn't do it. I have not only my own privacy to protect but all the people I talk about as well. I wouldn't want his girlfriend reading all the nasty things I say about my ex!!!!

I might. However, the pictures I'm in make me look like a felon.

- Response by myrtletyrtle, Female, 46-55, Who Cares?

Rating Received:

Lol llafsroh... as for me... It's always a thought out avatar I have and I have some pictures on my profile that reveal some things about me...even a picture of me on my bike... I keep one photo in there for good measure so those that do read about me can at least get a sense of who I am... but I've been in the press a few times and on tv so I try to keep it rather low on exposing info. Not that I really care though in the end because I'm me and who knows.. maybe I can keep making good connections on here... you just never know in life and this place draws me in for some reason.. I tried to give it up when a gal on here got close to me and then sort of dropped off the map because she was with someone and I'm glad for her really because she's going to lead a happy life but it left me a bit sad... ah well... if things are meant to be then they happen... damn.. I got winded here.. anyway... have a good one Mrs. Cleaver, say hellow to Warren... loved your tv show..lol ;-)

- Response by pawbuddys, Female, 46-55

Rating Received:

Yes. I would. I had my photo up once upon a time. I took it down after someone popped a post of mine and the pop was about my photo....not my post. (It wasn't a mean pop)

I simply like more privacy. I do have a partial photo on my profile of just my smile. :)

BTW....my avitar IS me...a part of me anyway...lol

- Response by regi64, Female, Who Cares?, Who Cares?

I have had a number of face pics up over the years, but I intentionally don't show a full pic just in case some fool uses it some place else.

Those who have seen my 'real' pictures(I have posted face pictures here before) know
< this is not me... It's one I came across while searching for a cartoon avatar...and I liked it. My real ones are on my profile.

They'd never know if you posted a real picture --even if they did require it.

- Response by bobbysg1rl, Female, 36-45, Pittsburgh, Medical / Dental

Rating Received:

I think I made a mistake... I thought they wanted a real picture so that's what I posted... Im the guy with the cap standing in the back, so I guess the answer is yes.

No, I'm a celebrity and being on the net anonymously is one of the few guilty pleasures I have.

- Response by An Intellectual Guy, Male, 29-35, Philadelphia, Artist / Musician / Writer

Rating Received:

Nope. As far as I see it, the point of this web site is not to share myself. The point is to share my opinions and thoughts.

- Response by rslizzle, Female, 22-25, Student

Rating Received:

Depends I guess. I feel like I can reveal more of me behind a different avatar. I don't need people I deal with professionally knowing some of the more intimate advice I give. Sometimes I put a real photo up for a short time but I don't like to keep it up for long.

- Response by cam80, Female, 29-35

Rating Received:

No, because the time I posted my real pic on a dating site (years ago--I was still single), I attracted a stalker; also, I don't need my students to "find" me on the Internet--I'mnot ashamed of anything I post here, but I like to feel free to say what I want. If there was a chance that some kid that's failing my course wanted to dig up some out-of-context dirt on me, I'd have to be too careful about what I posted, and then it wouldn't be any fun anymore.

There IS a reason why department chairs and principals ask their respective staffs to stay off the Internet, or at least stay very anonymous on the Internet.

However, I've said this before and I'll say it again: I take a lotof justifiable pride in my appearance--particularl y because anti-choice misogynists like topretend that people with my political opinions are ugly. So, because I enjoy proving them wrong and rubbing it in their faces, I make my photos available to any remotely sane member of this site that wants to see them. :)

I tried to change mine to a real pic of me, but it wouldn't switch it! Must've tried a dozen times before I gave up! I don't have anything to hide, so I don't have a problem with it.

I do have my real picture up, I always have, and always will! Heck, I even put up my pic of myself and my son, when he had convinced me to go short, and gray with my hair! Which completely put me in a rut, so I had to grow it out, and color it again! And yes, these pics were taken this Christmas, I just happen to be blessed with very good genes, on both sides of my family. As my son says, I have less wrinkles than he does!

- Response by cougar01, Female, 46-55, Self-Employed

Rating Received:

mine is real too, but if someone chooses not to have a "real" one... it is not smart to just jump to the conclusion that they are ugly or have something to hide. Some people just have a fav or cool pic of something else.

My avatar is my real picture and I have several others posted on my profile for people to see. I'm certainly no Miss America but I'm not worried about others criticism. I am who I am and I'm not afraid to show the good, the bad and the ugly. lol

I feel bad for people who want to use theirs but don't because they're afraid they'll be made fun of - which does happen here. About a month ago a woman anonymously accused me of being an illegal alien based on my photos. I don't know where that came from, I'm as white trash as can be. lol I don't care what other people look like but I do think it's more personable to see who you're chatting with/responding to.

no. I refuse to allow anyone here any connection to my actual life. not because I'm some kind of charlatan, but because I've learned (the hard way) to put a shield between myself and the nut cases running loose on the 'net.
