1 MILLION BIRTH CONTROL PACKS RECALLED, PILL MIX UP AT FACTORY COULD LEAVE YOU PREGNANT!!!

A report on Boston.com yesterday said that ONE MILLION BIRTH CONTROL PACKS ARE BEING RECALLED, because there was a mix up that leaves a lot of women at risk of getting pregnant.

Apparantly, some packs have far too many active pills, others too few. This means even if you take all of the pills as reccomended, half of them could be the sugar pills and thus leave you at risk for getting pregnant.

If your on the pill, make sure yours aren't part of the recall. If they are and you've had unprotected sex recently, think of getting the morning after pill or prenatal care.

Update: February 02, 2012.
There has to be some woman out there with 3 weeks of sugar pills! I wonder if the company is going to get sued for the unplanned pregnancies, lifelong child support... It's just completely irresponsible of this company. It makes you wonder what other medications they are messing up.

So does this mean women should drink "protein shakes" until they can get replacement pills?

Haven't been on the pill in decades - when I saw the report I am thankful at my age a surprise pregnancy - not good! As for the color difference in the inert pills some brands do others don't -
Scary isn't it! I mean what next mislabeled dosages on that mass level- I take Coumadin every day and it has a certain bleeding risk as a side effect- if I got a higher dose I could bleed to death internally or if I got too little - I get blood clots - Scary to see mistakes on such a large scale and yes there will be lawsuits when women get pregnant and only had been given the sugar pill and others may have other complications from having all active pills- they need to be held responsible!

Utah mom obviously grew up when common sense existed.

I haven't read about the recall, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a single batch of 100 or so sets that were misfed. Its cheaper to recall than to pay for 100 little kiddies.

That's nuts! I don't have to worry about that thank goodness. I haven't had sex in 3 and 1/2 years so I don't bother with birth control.
