Scalp psoriasis ...

Does anyone have scalp psoriasis or know anyone that does? Any kind of over the counter treatments that work?

My sister and our niece (different sister's kid) have it. it's soooo bad on my sister that it's spreading to her neck and back and it's in her ears and getting on her eyelids. My niece's isn't so bad, but it's probably just a matter of time before it spreads.

The medicine that they use is extremely expensive and only lasts about 2 weeks (it's 30 day script) - and it's actually not working as well on my sister. It's like the longer she uses it the less it works. It's a foam they rub into the scalp .

I feel soooo horrible for both of them - especially my niece she's only 18 and she's going to have to suffer with this her whole life. My sister is pushing 40 and just got it.

I wonder how you develop it. eeewwwww - it's so nasty .

Go to a Whole Foods Market or another Health Store in your town. They usually will have alternatives to use. Why waste the money if it is not working. Have you told the Doctor it is not working? He might be able to give you another product. Tell him you need one that is not expensive. You can also go to an Alternative medicine clinic. I think they are just as good for non life threatning problems.

Oh I forgot...tea tree oil is awesome too. It has a strong smell and if you've been scratching it will burn when you put it on but the itching will stop. I used to put it on my scalp before I'd go to bed and then wash my hair really good in the morning. I haven't needed it in a long time though,

I only know what works for scalp psoriasis..and as crazy as it sounds -dying the hair. My friend has this and it stopped after we started dying it..now it's back because we haven't dyed in in a LONG time. I Guess the chemicals in permanent hair dye eat away the excess skin

My grandaughter had it while young and the peditrician told us to keep her off chocolate and to have a cool bath only once a week. She no longer has it.I know of no meds that realy help.

Cocoa butter conditioner if you can find it. That and using selenium shampoo will likely help the flaking.

Then, if they have health insurance, go to the derm and have them ask to be put on Humira. This stuff is very expensive but insurance usually covers everything and the part they dont the company will pay.
