I imagine it's due to having to deal with such a high percentage of terrified patients. That would be extremely draining I think.

According a dentist friend , its said because they're rejected so much. they see fear all day long. nobody wants to be there and if he/she is a bit mentally weak, this gets old after years and years.

Because EVERYBODY hates the dentist, and NOBODY wants to go. I guess after hearing that for years on end, they start to take it personally.

I dont know. I think its the people it draws. I mean I believe that a lot of suicidal people are entering the prefession and if they want into different feild the suicide rate would be high somewhere else it all by chance.. They didnt go into the job and than get depressed...

Probably because no one visit is dreaded more than going to the dentist. I have great teeth and I STILL hate going!

alot of chemical exposure espececially when taking x-rays, it can cause them pain therefore making them want to end it
