How do I get cigarette smoke smell out of books?

A co-worker of my husband's gave our daughter some books that her granddaughter no longer had an interest in. Unfortunately, the reek of cigarette smoke. Is there anyway to get the smell out of the pages? One is a board book, one is hardcover with paper pages, and there are several softcovered with paper pages.

I'd leave them out in the sunshine for a few hours on a pretty day. The fresh air and sunlight should freshen them up; if the smell isn't gone, at least it'll be less stinky.

I'd spray it with Fabreze & then let it sit outside for awhile...

Perhaps sprinkle some baking soda between some of the pages and layer them in newspaper (if the weather doesn't permit the sunshine idea).
