Why Lie, I Need a Beer.....

A guy at the gas station was holding that sign. I gave him a buck!

When you run across people asking for "spare change" because they are "hungry", are you more inclined to give them cash, buy them something to eat or give nothing at all?

I offered to buy a guy a sandwich once and got royally cursed out! WTF?

Best sign I saw was in Austin, TX. The guy was standing on an off ramp with a sign that read....

"WIFE HAD BETTER LAWYER"

I usually don't give to beggars...but I pulled over, got out of my car and gave the guy $5. The laugh he gave me was worth more.

I gave some spare change I had in my car once. All the quarters and dimes were already picked out. All that was left was some 30 something cents in pennies and nickels. Dude was like "what is this..."

It is the sad truth isn't it. This happened to my friends mom, regarding giving food to them.
They are addicts or drunks. I am still guilty for giving money from time to time to the wrong person. It defeats the purpose of doing good, when its more likely for the wrong thing. It also incourages them to stay in your neighborhood.
I now give help to people I know are in real need of help. I don't like to give to an organization since I've learned how high their salaries are even though they fall under nonprofit.
In my religion its 2.2percent of my income. I do my best.

I give them my spare change. What they do with it is their business...if the guy decides he needs a beer, who am I to tell him to eat a sandwich? To curse you out for offering is just rude though...that guy isn't hungry, he's a professional street beggar, most likely.

You gotta watch out for the professional beggars! I heard about a woman who would drive to Toronto from the suburbs in her BMW, pay $20 to park for the day, then would spend the day begging for spare change. She obviously was making enough to support herself and her expensive car, because they think she was doing it for 6 months before someone figured it out!

I guess the guy wasnt hungry. He could use cash for anything. Sometimes there are a lot of people using that money to get high or to buy heroin. But they cant trade food for money. But dont let it get to you. You where being the nice one. I hope you have a good day.

I don't give them anything. I've seen them holding signs saying "Will work for food". I offered one $50 to dig 5 postholes and put the posts in the holes. He told me he would take money but he wasn't going to do that. I told him that I was going to Home Depot and if he were still there I was gonna beat the shit out of him. He left.
