Regarding your update:

"Green Bags" are like baggies, but they are made of a special substance which stops produce from going bad for a LONG time. I use them for all my fresh fruit & veggies. I've had lettuce last THREE WEEKS when put in "Green Bags." You can re-use them several times, too. Just rinse them out, let them air-dry and use them again.

They are available most grocery stores, and at Target. I don't shop at Walmart, but I bet they are sold there, too.

I know a little lemon juice keeps apples and bananas from turning brown, so it may also work on pineapples.

Keep cut fruits, such as apples, pears, bananas and peaches, from turning brown by coating them with an acidic juice such as lemon, orange or pineapple juice.

Cover and refrigerate cut fruit until ready to serve. Avoid leaving cut fruit at room temperature for more than two hours.

The only reason it does not turn brown when you buy it in a can, is because they pack it in its own juice. Any fruit juice being poured over it will work.
