Do I have to blanch tomatoes before freezing?

I thought maybe I could just wash them and put them in freezer bags, but I didn't know if that work. I would only be using the tomatoes for cooking so I didn't think it would hurt.

Tomatoes are one of the few types of produce that do not freeze well. Certain canned tomato products can make a great substitute for fresh if you are ever in a pinch. But if you'd really prefer to use your own fresh crop at another date, it's best to use the tomatoes as the ingredient in the sauce or dish, and then freeze that, as opposed to freezing the tomatoes alone. Best of luck!

Trust me on this one. REMOVE the skins. Do NOT freezet them with the skins on.

It only takes a few seconds to dip the tomato in boiling water and the skins will slip off in one piece.

Tomatoes can very easily form botulism. Please be sure to read and follow all safe food handling practices for freezing tomatoes. There are numerous websites available to assist you.
